The Japan Steel Works Ltd (JSW) announced April 24, 2019, that it will withdraw from the business of manufacturing and selling wind turbines.
The company found it difficult to develop technologies for coping with severe climatic environments peculiar to Japan and stopped the production of wind turbines in fiscal 2016. The decision on the withdrawal was made in the board of directors' meeting that took place on the same day.
Since JSW started its wind turbine business in 2006, it has sold 135 wind turbines in Japan. It will continue to provide maintenance and repair services for existing wind turbines.
