First Solar Japan (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), a Japanese subsidiary of the US-based major solar panel manufacturer, is building a mega (large-scale) solar power plant in Minamiyamashiro-mura, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan.

The plant, "Minamiyamashiro-mura/Iga City Solar Power Plant," is scheduled to start operation in December 2022. The total solar panel capacity and grid capacity of the plant are 60.5MW and 37.5MW, respectively.

First Solar Inc's solar panel was employed for the plant. The amount of electricity generated at the plant is expected to be equivalent to the amount consumed by 15,000 households. The FIT tariff set for the plant is ¥36/kWh.
