Chita Solar Power Generation GK, which is invested in by Yonden Engineering Co Inc (Takamatsu City) and Chubu Plant Service Co Ltd (Nagoya City), started commercial operation of a mega (large-scale) solar power plant in Chita City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Aug 2, 2019.

The plant, "Chita Solar Power Plant," was built near Sakuragane and Nibangane, Souri, Chita City. With an output of about 11.68MW, the plant is expected to generate about 14,540MWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 4,800 households, per year. Electricity generated at the plant is sold to Chubu Electric Power Co Inc at a price of ¥32/kWh based on the feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme.

The solar panel and PV inverter employed for the plant are products of Mitsubishi Electric Corp and Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp (TMEIC), respectively. Yonden Engineering Co Inc provided EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) and O&M (operation and maintenance) services for the plant.

The asset management of Chita Solar Power Generation was entrusted to Sanko Office Management Co Ltd. Also, Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities Co Ltd and Mitsui & Co Alternative Investments Ltd became financial advisers for the company.

Yonden Engineering, which is affiliated with The Shikoku Electric Power Co Inc, has long been providing engineering and construction services for large-scale wind power generation facilities. After the implementation of the FIT policy, it started to deal with mega solar plants. So, the company is a pioneer of the engineering and construction of renewable energy-based power generation facilities in Japan.
