Orix Environmental Resources Management Corp (Yorii-machi, Saitama Prefecture) announced Sept 19, 2019, that it will build biogas power generation facilities using general waste and dry methane fermentation.

Orix Environmental Resources Management plans to start construction of the facilities in January 2020 and begin operation in the fall of 2021.

The dry methane fermentation technology employed for the facilities enables to efficiently extract biogas even from organic substances with a low moisture content.

The facilities can process up to 100t of waste per day. With an output of 1.6MW, they are expected to generate about 9,800,000kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 3,140 households, per year.
