51MW Biomass Power Plant to Be Built in Hokkaido

Ishikari Shinko New Energy Hatsuden GK will build a biomass power plant in Ishikari City, Hokkaido, Japan.

Ishikari Shinko New Energy Hatsuden (Sapporo City) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Okumura Corp (midsize general contractor). It had a ceremony to pray for safe construction of the plant and a ground-breaking ceremony Oct 7, 2019, aiming to start operation of the plant in August 2022.

The woody biomass power plant will have an output of 51.5MW (grid capacity: 45MW) and is expected to generate 360,000,000kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 121,000 households, per year. The FIT tariff set for the plant is ¥24/kWh.
