SymEnergy Inc (Kobe City) built a solar power plant with an output of 19.6MW and a grid capacity of 15MW in collaboration with Orix Corp in Shichinohe-machi (town), Aomori Prefecture, Japan.

They had a ceremony to celebrate the completion of the mega (large-scale) solar power plant, "Shichinohe-machi Sotsukozawa Solar Power Plant," Dec 3, 2019, planning to start operation of the plant in January 2020.

About 58,000 solar panels were set up on about 48ha of wilderness/mountain forest/hybrid area in Sotsukozawa District of the town. The plant is expected to generate about 20,000MWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 5,550 households, per year.

The solar panel and PV inverter employed for the plant are products of LG Electronics Inc and Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp (TMEIC), respectively.

The power producer of the plant is Aomori Shichinohe Mega Solar Power Plant, which is owned 65% by Orix and 35% by SymEnergy. A construction joint venture between Obayashi Road Corp and SymEnergy provided construction services for the plant. SymEnergy is making efforts to contribute to the community by entrusting maintenance to a local company and creating jobs.
