Looop Inc (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo) and Green Power Development Corporation of Japan (GPD, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) built a mega (large-scale) solar power plant with a storage battery in Nakashibetsu City, Hokkaido, Japan, and started commercial operation Sept 30, 2019.

For the plant, "Looop Nakashibetsu Solar Power Plant," about 107,000 solar panels (total output: about 31.6MW) were set up on the site of a former golf course. Also, a storage battery with a capacity of 10.445MWh was installed as a measure against output fluctuation.

The plant is expected to generate about 30,000,000kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 6,100 households, per year. The FIT tariff set for the plant is ¥40/kWh.
