Takeei Fires Up 7MW Biomass Power Plant in Kanagawa

Takeei Co Ltd announced that Yokosuka Biomass Power Generation Co Ltd has started commercial operation of a biomass power plant with a rated output of 6,950kW in November 2019.

Yokosuka Biomass Power Generation is a subsidiary of Takeei and based in Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. Electricity generated at the plant, "Yokosuka Biomass Power Plant," is sold based on the feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme.

The plant uses cut trees, pruned branches, thinnings, wood waste produced at construction site, etc as fuel.
