Meiji Co Ltd announced Nov 19, 2019, that it will introduce solar power generation (PV) facilities to its Kyushu Factory as part of its efforts to reduce CO2 emissions and start power generation in March 2020.

Meiji will install 680kW of solar panels at the factory, and they are expected to eliminate 430t of CO2 per year. Electricity generated with the PV facilities will be consumed in house.

In the aim of cutting CO2 emissions by about 6,000t per year by fiscal 2028, compared with fiscal 2019 levels, Meiji plans to introduce about 8.4MW of self-consumption-type PV facilities.
