Mitsubishi Motors Corp announced Dec 11, 2019, that it will install a storage battery system using a rooftop solar power generation (PV) system and used/recycled automotive batteries at its Okazaki Plant (Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture).

The system is expected to eliminate about 1,600t of CO2 emissions per year. It will also be used for peak shaving.

The output of the PV system will be about 3MW at first, and the system is expected to generate 3GWh of electricity per year.

Mitsubishi Motors will make use of reused batteries of its "Outlander PHEV" to establish and test the storage battery system with a capacity of up to 1MWh.
