Snow on Solar Panels Blown Off at Night in Hokkaido (1)

In mountains of Hokkaido, there is a mega (large-scale) solar power plant where snow is removed as often as needed. The mega solar plant is connected to a high-voltage transmission line (Fig. 1).

In snow removal operations at solar power plants, generally, heaps of snow on the ground below the bottom of solar panels are removed. A method drastically different from this general method is incorporated in the solar power plant introduced in this article. Here, snow accumulated on panels is "blown off."
