SB Energy Fires Up 2MW Solar Plant in Tochigi

SB Energy Corp built a mega (large-scale) solar power plant in Motegi-machi, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, and started commercial operation of the plant Jan 24, 2020.

SB Energy (Minato-ku, Tokyo) is a company that is affiliated with the Softbank group and runs renewable energy-related businesses, etc.

For the plant, "Softbank Tochigi Motegi Solar Park," 6,512 solar panels were set up on about 4.2ha of land that was formerly a mountain forest.

The total solar panel capacity and grid capacity of the plant are about 2.0MW and 1.5MW, respectively. The plant is expected to generate about 2,474,000kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 687 households, per year.
