SB Energy Corp started commercial operation of a 1.74MW solar power plant in Oaza Suwanosawa, Aomori City, Aomori Prefecture, Japan, Dec 21, 2016.

"Limitless, uncompensated output restriction" became a condition for the grid connection of the plant because the grid connection application for the plant was submitted after the connectable amount of renewable energy-derived electricity was reached in the service area of Tohoku-Electric Power Co Inc.

The plant was built on about 3.8ha of land that was used as a snow disposal site in winter. It is expected to generate about 1,694,000kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 470 households, per year.
