Nichicon Corp will release a high-capacity, single-function storage battery system for self-consumption of electricity generated with a "post-FIT" solar power generation (PV) system, for which the FIT (feed-in tariff)-based contact period has expired, in May 2019.

The manufacturer's suggested retail price of the system is ¥4 million (excluding tax). The system comes with a lithium-ion (Li-ion) rechargeable battery with a capacity of 16.6kWh. It can be used for up to about 30 hours by an average household whose power consumption is 480W.

Also, by storing surplus solar electricity generated by the PV system and using it during nighttime hours, it can be possible to achieve a complete self-sufficiency of electricity.
