JR East to Employ PV System for Highest-altitude Train Station in Japan

The Nagano Branch of East Japan Railway Co (JR East) announced March 20, 2019, that it will turn Nobeyama Station (train station) on the Koumi Line into a model of "Eco Sute" and install solar panels, etc at the station.

The station is located in Minamimaki-mura, Nagano Prefecture, and is the normal train station that is allegedly located at the highest altitude in Japan.

The Eco Sute is a model station that introduces environmental protection technologies such as energy-saving and renewable energy technologies. And Nobeyama Station will become the 11th Eco Sute of JR East and the first Eco Sute of the Nagano Branch.
