Sharp Energy Solutions Corp (Yao City, Osaka Prefecture) announced June 5, 2019, that it has built a mega (large-scale) solar power plant in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam.
It is a joint project of Sermsang Power Corporation PLC (SSP), which is a Thailand-based energy-related company, Truong Than Quang Ngai Power And High Technology Joint Stock, which is affiliated with SSP, etc.
The total capacity of solar panels installed at the plant is about 49MW. The plant is expected to generate about 73,143MWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by 38,762 households in Vietnam, per year. The plant has an effect of eliminating about 24,357t of CO2 per year. It started operation May 27, 2019.
For the plant, Sharp Energy Solutions provided EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) services. The solar panel and PV inverter employed for the plant are products of Sharp Corp and Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp (TMEIC), respectively. The power producer of the plant is Truong Than Quang Ngai Power And High Technology Joint Stock.
It is the fourth solar power plant that Sharp Energy Solutions has built in Vietnam. The total output of the company's four solar power plants in Vietnam is about 195MW. The government of Vietnam plans to increase the total capacity of its solar power plants to 12,000MW by 2030 (Related article: Sharp Builds Vietnam's 1st Mega Solar Plant).
